IN TRICHY REGION
Achrya budha duttha mahathera born in Chola country also lived in
Vurakaburam (Woraiyur) around 5 AD . He has written Madurathaivilasini
and abithavatharam in relation to his living in Tiruchirappalli
and his works speaks volume in a prise of chola country ,Boothamangalam,poompukar
etc . Six feet stone statue his found in Mangalam village in the
Aravan temple 15 kms north east of Musiri and !5 kms south west
of Thuraiyur. The bottom portion of the peedam of the statue
has 3 lions. |

ERAKUDI -SIRUNAVALLUR , GRANAREY
There is an ancient granary in this village .this
was build for emergency storage,during the Nawab of Arcot period
. This stacco granary has lot of fine sculpture.

palm leaf manuscripts, insects, reptiles, birds, mammals. Ancient
sculptures like thirumal crawling krishna ,thirumal with consorts
,devi ,durga ,saint manickavasagar, Nataraja and chandra sekar are
here. Tribal model of pachamalai hills,Thanjavur painting ,Coins

GUNASEELAM
Arulmigu Prasanna Venkatesa Perumal Temple lies
16 Kms from Tiruchirappalli at Gunaseelam, on the northern banks
of the river cauvery. During the uchi kala pooja ( 11:30 am to 12:30
hrs ) and Artha Jama Pooja ( 08: 30 ) the holy water is sprinked
on the devottee which is said to be expaiting all kinds of evils
effects and mind diseases. During the whole Dhanu month( Dec - Jan
) kootaravalli and Vaikununta Ekatasi festivals take place. Apart
from that purattasi saturdays and float festival and Bramotstavam
are also important festivals here . Annual festival is celebrated
during the month of September-October with the famous car festival.The
devotees from various parts of Tamilnadu are visiting this temple
to pray the Lord Prasanna Vekatesa Peruamal to get rid of the mental
depression. |

Baba Natharvali has occupied
a unique position in the ranks of the Islamic saints of the world.
He was named as Muthaharudeen at first. He was in Hijiri 347 in
one of the idle Eastern countries. Even though he was the sultan,
he was having no attachment to pleasures of royal life of pomp and
splendor right from his early age. He descended from his throne
crowing his brother, Syed Jalaudeen and undertook holy pilgrimage
for propagation of Allah's glory according to Islamic tenets.
During this time, he had wrought a lot of miracles to the astonishment
of the people, who came into contact with him. This a part with
his 900 kalandars, he set foot in Tiruchirapuram, which s now known
as Tiruchirappalli. He led a pious saintly life with his kalandars
in a flower garden in Tiruchirappalli.Saint Baba Natharvali's body
was laid to rest in a place where it was once a Easwaran temple
in a room. Constructed with four doors according to Vedic sastras
and seppulingam is a witness to ghee lamp burning near the grave
of Baba.The saint breathed his last on the 15th of the month of
Ramzan in Hijiri 417 and with a view to remember this day, the first
17days in the month of Ramzan every year kanduri Urs is celebrated
in a highly grand scale it is a unique feature to see Muslims, Hindus
and Christians assemble to pay their homage and warm respects to
Baba Natharvali on the eve of the kanduri festival and seek his
graceful blessings . |

OUR LADY OF LOURDES CHURCH
This church is located near to the
Rock - fort Teppakulam. Church of our Lady of Lourdes is the replica
of the Basilica of Lourdes, the World famous place of pilgrimage
in southern France .It is a remarkable feat of Indian craftsmanship
and stained glass drawings.

Pachamalai is a green hill
range ,just 80 kms north of Tiruchiraplli via Thuraiyur. Pachai
means Green and malai means mountain.Pachamalai which spread with

MARIAMMAM TEMPLE- SAMAYAPURAM
Samayapuram Mariamman Temple is situated on Tiruchirappalli
Chennai NH 45, just 20 kms north of Tiruchirappalli town. Every
Sunday, Tuesday and Friday, hundreds of devotees throng the temple
and perform Poojas. The offerings are in various forms.The most
common offering is the Mavilakku Mavu made of jagery, riceflour,dhal
and ghee. Samayapuram is an important pilgrim center for all village
people of this region.

JAMBUKESWARAR TEMPLE- TIRUVANAIKKAVAL

| SUBRAMNIYA TEMPLE , VAYALOOR
Arulmigu Subramaniyaswami Temple lies at Kumara Vayaloor, 12 kms
from Tiruchirappalli, near Kuzhumani the village with lush green
fields .It is one of the famous Lord Karthick temples of this area.
The Kandarasti festival during October - November, is celebrated
in a grand manner for lord Muruga here.The presiding deities are

| PUNDARIKATCHA PERUMAL TEMPLE- THIRUVELLARAI
From Tiruchirappalli town on the Thuraiyur road it surprises the
visitor with its many ancient monuments dating back to the Pallavas.The
temple is built on a rock and the village is at the foot of it.
An important landmark is the large and ancient well, a deep square
well cut into the rock with four entrances also similarly cut. The
four flights of steps are in the shape of a Hindu Swastika.
